State Highway 44/State/Ballantyne

Watch for the Ballantyne/State Street realignment to begin this spring. It may be an inconvenience for a few months but we will have a much safer intersection to exit onto State Hwy 44 with a signal. This will also give us a controlled pedestrian access to the River Pathway.

Project Purpose
  • Improve traffic safety at the State Street/State Highway 44 intersection by:
  • Increasing sight distance at SH 44 and State Street intersection
  • Eliminating the intersection along SH 44 curve
  • Enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility by installing sidewalks

Project Description
  • Realign State Street and Ballantyne Lane to connect to State Highway 44 about 1,300 feet west of the current State Street intersection
  • Pending approval of the Idaho Transportation Department, a traffic signal will be installed at the new SH 44/State Street intersection
  • Addition of some 400 feet of sidewalk to connect to the existing sidewalks on State Street on the project's east end
